Consumers are exchanging the traditional search for chatbots and AI assistants to discover products and finish shopping. Survey reflected by The Jerusalem Post shows that e-commerce traffic from AI tools has grown from 150% to 428% year to year in every measured quarter. In the same period, the discovery of products by conventional search fell 15%, while the choice of purchasing channels as AI assistants increased 38%. The percentages indicate a structural change, not a fad. The growth of 150% to 428% in AI traffic puts conversational assistants alongside the main digital retail acquisition channels. Meanwhile, the 15% drop in discovery by traditional search shows that the consumer is willing to skip steps: instead of opening several tabs and comparing results, he asks directly to a chat which product to buy. This behavior is reinforced by the 38% advance in active choice by AI-based purchasing channels. The chat is no longer a service tool to become a new point of discovery and conversion. The answer lies in convenience. AI assistants condense search, comparison and recommendation in a single conversation. The user delivers his intention in natural language and receives an objective selection, with options and even sales arguments in the dialogue itself.
