NVIDIA and Foxconn are implementing artificial intelligence in Taiwanese hospitals as part of the 'Healthy Taiwan' initiative. The partnership aims to create working forces of AI agents to assist physicians in clinical reasoning, documentation and orchestration of care, and to accelerate the development of hospital robotics, as announced by NVIDIA News.

How does the AI act in Taiwanese hospitals?

AI agents, based on NVIDIA NIM platform and state-of-the-art language models, will be able to perform clinical reasoning, summarize medical records, suggest differential diagnoses and coordinate care flows between multidisciplinary teams. This reduces the administrative burden of doctors, releasing time for direct patient care. Foxconn contributes to hospital computing and integration infrastructure, while NVIDIA provides AI software and hardware such as H100 and B200 GPUs.

NVIDIA-Foxconn Partnership: Why is it strategic for health?

Taiwan already has one of the most advanced health systems in the world, with very high digitization of medical records. The combination of Foxconn manufacturing experience with NVIDIA’s AI ecosystem enables rapid scaling solutions of intelligent agents in hospitals such as Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and National Taiwan University Hospital. Moreover, the local government's 'Healthy Taiwan' initiative seeks to integrate technology to reduce costs and improve quality of life, aligning perfectly with the vision of AI agents as a workforce.

AI in practice: what changes for patients and doctors?

Doctors will have virtual assistants who listen to real-time appointments, automatically transcribe and suggest clinical hypotheses. For patients, this means faster and more accurate diagnoses. Physical robotics — such as surgical arms and nursing robots — will be trained in AI simulations to perform repetitive tasks, such as exam collection and medication administration. The expectation is that in three years, at least 10 Thai hospitals are operating with these systems.

Frequently Asked Questions about AI in hospitals

Will the AI replace the doctors?

Nope. AI agents act as support tools, automating bureaucratic tasks and suggesting decisions, but without replacing human clinical supervision.

What's Foxconn's role in the partnership?

Foxconn provides IT infrastructure, hospital integration and mass production capacity of physical robots, while NVIDIA provides specialized software and GPUs.

When will technology be available on a large scale?

The first pilot hospitals began operating in 2025, with gradual expansion to the entire Taiwanese health network by 2027.
